Not everyone is beautiful or handsome, there are a few cute people too... Same with instruments and since I first saw a photo of these sweet little cornets I have thought that they are cute. It is a Reynolds Emperor in raw brass.

Ahhhh . . . it brings back memories!

I played cornet, not trumpet, back in the day when most "trumpet players" in high schools played cornets.

And, of course, I played a Reynolds Emperor.

Not bad little horns in the day and it did me a fine job too!

Thanks for posting! I'll bet Reynolds horns are pretty rare to find where you live.

My pleasure, really. As I said I by some reason really did get caught by this model. Nice to play too, a very "safe" player I believe.

Yes, Reynolds horns are rare here in Sweden, as all American brass instruments except Bach. When I realized two years ago that it was possible to buy used musical instruments on ebay, in America, and then have them shipped here, I discovered a new world .

Anyway, did you have this kind of case too? Also very sweet. Really well made with a clever nest for the mouthpiece and the valve oil. It even had that little medallion from its purchase at the Lyons band instrument store left. The guarantee card was still in the case too, and the keys.

However I do not longer own this cornet as a man called me before christmas and said that he was looking for a nice gift for his trumpet playing daughter...

By the ebay way, my first ebay buy and American import fit well in this topic too. There was no bid so with a tremble in my chest I bid and hoped for the best. Amazingly there was no problem at all, no problem paying, no problem shipping. I was hooked.

It is a "Musicraft", made by Bohland & Fuchs for some dealer in the USA. If you look at the leadpipe you may see that it is almost not conical/tapered at all which makes it a rather special player. It is a very nice and well made trumpet although demanding.

That hammered bell pattern I've not seen before! Very nice!

Raw, naked babes in the snow!

I recently had my two cornets restored. One is a 1928 Buescher model 255 in Bb/A that belonged to my granddad. It had a broken leadpipe that my granddad had soldered back together and looked horrible. Now I can't believe it is the same horn. A small silvery blemish is all that remains after the restoration work.

The other is a 1947 Conn 12A that I found in an antique shop just before Christmas. It was all bent up and the laquer was a wreck. It also looks like a completely different horn after restoration.

That conn is a real beauty. I will have to take pics of my 1918 New Wonder, its not too pretty as it needs to have some work done on it though.

I'd love to see it! What kind of work does it need? You should bite the bullet and get 'er fixed up. You'll be so glad you did. I sure am! I wish I had made some good before pix of the Buescher; it really looked like a dog before!

Here is the before and after views of the 12A:

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Hi, just joined, can anybody shed anymore light on my Cornet, had it since 1973, says 'METZLER LONDON' on the bell but no serial numbers anywhere. Research shows it looks like a Courtois Arban, but other than that?

I really like this Buescher! The S tubing...

Anyway, I cannot stand seeing this thread waiting for an eternity for reply number 250 so I took a trip in the photo library. Here's a 1927 Holton Revelation, almost in the snow.
