Well, now I'll throw this '49 Olds Ambassador I had customized into the mix. I had the bell rebent into a shepherds crook, the 3rd valve tubing reversed and a brace removed to allow the finger ring to move it, and a dent removal/relacquer job.

Hey Dale, is it a difficult process to make a normal crook into a shepherds? I'd never heard of anyone doing that before. Whoever did it did a fantastic job, its a sweet horn.

It is easy to do . . . and you were ALMOST there with your link. All you left out was that after you pasted the link, do one more thing:

HIGHLIGHT THE LINK (right click and drag over it), then use your cursor to go the the square above that says "IMG" and click on it.

The photo link will then have this in front of it: [img] and this right after it [/img], with no spaces between the link on either side of the IMG commands. Thanks again! - moderator

Bugleblast, the guy that did the work for me is George Kraft. He owns Southeastern Musical Services in Huntsville, Alabama. He and his shop manager Bill Deiss are fantastic brass techs, and can do just about anything. George removed the bell, filled the crook with melted pitch, and let it cool. He was then able to bend the bell (the bend matches a photo I provided of an old cornet) without any creases. From what he told me, it was a challenge to get the bend to look the way I wanted and still give enough room to remove the 3rd valve slide. But he did it - the finger ring/lyre holder screw comes within about 1/8" from the bell before the slide is free! BTW, I sold this horn recently, so all I have are the memories (and a few pics).

He told me he would never do another one (but that was a long time ago).

Well, I guess the candy store ran out of candy! Here's another piece of mine - we'll call it a "jawbreaker" because it played so badly out of tune with itself, even after leak repairs and an Anderson's valve job.

I don't know exactly what I do got! This was my great Uncle's and I just came accross it. It Says: 'Auto Crat" in fancy Scroll on the front. Ever heard of it? Not really a looker but I do know it's old. Hoping someone can tell me more about it! I can't seem to upload pictures to you~ Do you have an Email address that I can send them to?

This was my Great Uncle's horn. I can't seem to post pictures on this forum. It is very old ,with a case and a oblong piece of wood that was inserted for a special sound effect. ( You know what I'm talking about =)

So I guess from some of the previous it's OK to post "oversize" in this thread!?

Here're a couple of larger versions of my '73 Eterna 'post Leigh'. (Photobucket vastly increased the file size allowance).

I'm afraid '73 is as "vintage" as it gets.
