| Burt and Joe Hi Wilmer; I was going through some records recently and ran across an album called Collins/Shepley Galaxy with Lennon / McCartney songs arranged by Mike Abene. Cool arr. of Elenore Rigby with some great players in this scaled down ensemble.Could you please tell us a little more about Burt and Joe. Have you heard this group? Thanks. |

As a team they recorded as "King Richard and the Flugel Knights," during the disco era. They were also part of the Duke Pearson trumpet section. That's a band to catch up on. Burt played in a big band the backed Chet Baker in the seventies. Do an allmusic.com search on burt and Joe, their careers are amazing. Wilmer

Your Duke Person remarks caugh my attention. Back in the day, that was the trumpet section that was in competition with Thad & Mel's band. Joe Shepley was one of those take no prisoners trumpet players, the type of cat I dug.
