I don't know man. I spent some time with Jens this past week and I asked him the same question. He didn't seem too interested in the turnover crisis. When I began taking the trumpet seriously (high school) Jens was playing with them. That is the Canadian Brass that I know and grew up with (trumpet wise). My favorite group was the one with Jens Lindemann, Ronald Romm, Davis Ohanian, Eugene and Chuck. (the "Christmas Experiment" generation). Eric

| Forte User | Wait...Stuart Laughton has been fired? Can anyone corroborate this? I looked at the website and it DOES appear they have a vacancy in his position. I'm curious...fired or quit or asked to leave? Odd..... Too bad, because I really liked his sound, better than even the other trumpet player (who was really well liked by most others). Stuart had a nice, milky-smooth sound...I'll miss that!

![]() | Laughton ? I found it interesting that Laughton came back to play with them recently as he was one of the "original" CB members. I have a paper back book with the early history and commentary on the Canadian Brass. Laughton was playing with another group "Northern Brass" and I have a couple of their CD's as well. Fine (as in fine wine) group. Yes he does have a beautiful sound. I would be curious about why he decided to come back and then leave (for whatever reason) in a relatively short timespan. ![]() | True North Brass Sorry I got the name wrong. The two discs I have of theirs are excellent both in interesting selections and performances. Is Stuart Laughton with them again or someone else? Bill Dishman Gainesville, Florida |

| Mezzo Forte User | I can't quite remember, but I don't think Stuart is with them right now. He did do a clinic at my college this winter though (although I wasn't able to make it). He is a really interesting clinician because he is an expert in the ancestors of the trumpet, and regularly plays them at concerts. |

![]() | According to the Canadian Brass website, Stuart is with them part-time. They are using Joe Burgstaller as the "anchor" and rotating the other part between a few different trumpeters - of which Stuart is one. |
