The Dream Weaver's.
Back in the day, this was one of the most tight-knit band in the land.
There was zero degree of separation within the quartet.

For the period in question,I remember Archie with Giuseppe (Joe) Logan rather than Marion.

Wilmer, how much credence should I put in the listing as opposed to my failing memory ?

This is my favorite Freddie video on the net. He is just killing on this tune.

Freddie is one of my favorites as well. No one came close when it came to intense energetic solos that showed incredible virtuosity. Just listen to him play about 40 choruses of the blues on Byrdlike. That solo is incredible.

If you can, check out the album called Live at the Left Bank. There are two of them, one is purple and one is yellow. (same cover picture). The purple one is such an amazing set. The crowd is going crazy, Freddie is playing circles around each tune and the band is right there with him. One of his finest live shows I have heard.
Your recommendations are becoming costly...I have the yellow one (color on rear) recorded on April 23,1967 and I can't believe The Masked Announcer (Joel Dorn,a Philly native) would issue the same recording under a different color scheme.
We color blind folks would sue...I have to contact my attorney,Bernie !

Re: Freddie Hubbard

The Left Bank had lots of "One Time Only" groups. The great Albert" Sam" Dailey, played with lots of the incoming groups.

I understand your joyful experience.
Picture an early 1970's jazz performance at Pratt Institute,Brooklyn,NY for a $1.00 that featured Clark Terry.
The cleaning crew at the Institute had to drag Mr.Terry and stablemates off the bandstand so they could clean up and go home.
I'm sure those in Baltimore who attended the Edward Sonny Stitt gig got a lengthy and brillant show.

They just don't make them like that anymore.

4-23-67 FREDDIE HUBBARD, trumpet; BENNY MAUPIN, tenor sax; RONNY MATTHEWS, piano; HERBIE LEWIS, bass; FREDDIE WAITS, drums

My yellow CD lists Kenny Barron as pianist.
Ronnie may have been back in Brooklyn looking at the old Ebbets Field becoming a housing complex.

Re: Freddie Hubbard

Freddie made many appearances at Left Bank. Jimmy Heath is the sax man on the Left Bank album with the boisterous audience.

Re: Freddie Hubbard

check out a live recording called 'Above and Beyond' .... it's got a version of 'Softly as in a Morning Sunrise' that kills. Freddie just plays chorus after chorus...it's frightening!
