I attended "Harlem Speaks" Thursday. Stanton Davis was the speaker. Please Google Stanton. His credits are a mile long. Oscar aka Talcito was there. It was a nice mini TM hang.
While there, Loren Schoenberg asked me to be a speaker at a future Harlem Speaks. Of course, I couldn't turn him down. It's going to happen in August, I will let everyone know as soon as we set the day.

Hi Wilmer,

Am sorry I missed that the other night, I haven't been on the computer much lately, or even practicing the way I should. A little lack of enthusiasm, as I've been a little preoccupied by some medical issues and having to go to State run medical facilities, due to no health insurance.

I will however slap myself and say "shape up", and most certainly do not want miss you, so keep us informed as to a date in case I'm a little lax on checking for events.

It was a great surprise to find you in attendance!

Stanton Davis is a very interesting musician......surely a musician who puts his mental energy 100% into his craft. When I hear him discuss things his ultimate goal is to be a great artist.....not just a great trumpet player.

I have been giving more thought of my own to a couple of things he talked about. The concept of creating in the music a "Lift" by understanding the rythmic subdivision. Also, ideas of understanding the relationship between dance and the player. The idea that "risk" is sometimes what we need to do to "make things happen".

Couple of things I am looking to acquire: Music by George Russel and Gunther Schueller.

By the way Wilmer, please let me know if you have any luck finding a #9 plunger!

When you speak at Harlem Speaks it would be great if someone shot a video that could be put on the TM sight. I know those of us who can't be there would enjoy it.......................tom

Thanks for that clip...I haven't seen Mr.Workman since those "FREE FOR ALL" days some 40 + years ago at the Village Gate.
He has grown old gracefully,and I understand his emotional description of
Mr.Blakey's meeting the DIZ and Pittsburgh own Billy E.
Billy E. also blew a mean horn.
