bill benzon will become famous soon enough
Re: Juilliard Honors Joe Wilder and Clark Terry

I don't remember him as particularly quiet, but I suppose he was. I remember him as a kind man and a gentleman. He usually (always) wore a tie and jacket my lesson.

As for your Mr. Benzon, no relation that I know. There aren't many Benzon's (with a Z), but, through the internet, I've learned that there are more than just my direct relatives.

For years my main ax was a Schilke X3. These days it's a Calicchio 3/9 Ultra Solo Copper.

Re: Juilliard Honors Joe Wilder and Clark Terry

I met Mr. Rehrig at Peabody in the late '70s. I remember talking to him in the cafeteria about Gershwin... he was not a fan:)

Re: Juilliard Honors Joe Wilder and Clark Terry

Different strokes for different folks, but I think Gershwin was great and was one of America's foremost composers.

Had Mr.Rehig listened to Cat Anderson for 3:42 or Freddie Hubbard for 10:10 or Lou Donaldson with Blue Mitchell for 5:45 minutes of their respective rendition of SUMMERTIME,
I'm quite sure Mr.Rehig would have had what the folks in the music industry call an
ALTERNATE take of George & Ira contribution to music.
