![]() | Re: Reunald Jones (Again) I rented the Nat King Cole TV special to watch him play. He is featured about 3/4 the way through. Great gritty player, nice tone and style.

Also, I had heard that Count Basie receivied these grammy's, and I figured that the actual original band members are entitled to them as well, so I contacted the grammy's people (on Pico in Los Angeles) and long story short, they're suppose to be sending me the 2 Jonesy's entitled to. Unfortunately, he played with basie only until 59, so he's only entitled to the 2 he rec'd on the very first Grammy's (1958), which is the Best Dance Band & Best Jazz Group. Also, on the Nat King Cole special (with the Queen), Jonesy was the lead trumpet there. During that performance, Natalie Cole took that performance for "Unforgettable" and re-recorded it as a duet in the 90's. I spoke to the people in charge and finally (after a long battle) got his name attached to the recording so now he's entitled to royalties. A long uphill battle but it was fought & won. Thanks all for the support and encouragement to do this. | |
