If my memory is correct,I recall 1st seeing Jimmy at either the Jazz Gallery or the Ski Lodge in NYC . In reviewing the list,I observed Cecil Payne's name - is he still with us ? Mr.Payne resided around the corner from Kenny Dorham on President Street by Albany Avenue,Brooklyn.
I believe Cecil is still here, he is another December baby Does the name Damita Jo ring a bell? Hobart was her music director. Damita's MDs were always fantastic. I worked her act many times. Al Dailey, Kirk Lightsey or Hobart lead on those various occasions. Wilmer

![]() | I believe Cecil is still here, he is another December baby That's good news ! Does the name Damita Jo ring a bell? First heard the name a few years ago when an elderly gent was ranting and raving what he bougth for $18.99 wasn't what he expected. It appeared Janet Janet was masquerading as Damita Jo. Hobart was her music director. Damita's MDs were always fantastic. I worked her act many times. Al Dailey, Kirk Lightsey or Hobart lead on those various occasions. Wilmer
How about letting the readers know how multi-talented you are by sharing with us your days with the BROOKLYN ACADEMY OF MUSIC (BAM) and the VILLAGE PEOPLE,the band that gave us YMCA
