'cause I got one?

Do a search for "Eclipse" here in the forums and you'll have enough bed-time reading to keep you busy for a while! (To be fair, true of many other brands as well!)

I think it is almost safe to say that eclipse is the "official horn" of TrumpetMaster.

Unless you post in Manny's forum, then you have to give due acknowledgement to Monette as well

(speaking from the position of an Eclipse owner - they are incredible instruments - I have played loads and purchased one, so far)

Though I have played an eclipse for a little while that a college student i know owns I think everyone knows where my horn allegiance falls cough cough Monette, haha, but yes i am amazed at the attention and most of all acclaim that Eclipse horns have achieved in the relatively short period i understand they have been being made, all they need now I feel to REALLY take off is a couple big names in the U.S. playing them, then I bet they would have a backorder like Monette. I would definitly like to know how i could get my hands on an eclipse C to try out as i dont think at this point i can afford 2 Monette trumpets, i am looking into either a lawler, yamaha chicago, or Eclipse C so if anyone has one they want to mail me to try out feel free, haha.

Out of all of the people on this forum, I would tend to think that Bach would probably be the 800 pound gorilla - it has been for so long and most people that I know who have played for a while have owned one at one time or another. However, we certainly do champion the Eclipse and Monette here.

If I had the money, honey, I'm sure they could have the time to make me one or the other.

Fihod, I won't be drawn into a discussion of this horn vs. that one because (drumroll) I don't believe that it's so important (apologies to our many fine sponsors and those of you who love, and thus have allegiance to, your personal brand of choice). At last look I have trumpets from 7 manufacturers on my shelf and I love them all.

The general standard of trumpet manufacture these days seem pretty good to me. We like to whine about this and that (show me a professional in most fields that doesn't), but many new "off the rack" horns should suffice, assuming you can find them in Brazil or you're comfortable ordering one sight unseen. You could also have your trumpet reconditioned, as suggested.

Two stories for you to consider: Bud brought his famous Mt. Vernon C into the Schilke shop for some small thing back in the 70s and I took it away quietly and practiced on it for an hour. What a fish-horn. Many notes needed alternative fingerings (watch the old CSO videos). Another icon, John Wallace played a pretty dicey set of old, beat-up Schilke trumpets.

I think that all of can agree that they both sounded pretty good.

Best and I'll keep watching,
EC

Try Weril. I know they are located in Brazil. They make very good quality horns. I just bought their cornet and love it. The price ranges from about $750-$1800. Don't quite know all of the specs but its worth a try!

You worked in the Schilke shop and knew Renold Schilke? Good stuff!!!

Sorry I jumped all over this thread, Ed. I just posted to an active thread and I wrongly assumed that it was in the horns forum.
