TMers,

I agree absolutely with Trent that we need musicians that can play in the widest range of styles. The more way we can connect the dots between musics the better and it's obvious to the discerning listener when a musician has such range.

I agree with Kelly however that panels expect to receive what they ask for. The solution, therefore, is to do that (but bring a free improviser's ear) (wearing colorful underwear helps too).

Have you considered putting any natural trumpet or cornetto repertoire on your demo CDs. You didn't mention it, but it's something that you have that very few Americans can put on their resumes (or demo CDs).

Jimi,

Good idea. I've got a few of that stuff recorded from various recitals, but I know I could get much better recordings if I devoted a recording session to only early music. We'll see if I have time to do any early music this time around (there's quite a lot already)...I might have to wait and record some of that next semester.
