![]() ![]() ![]() | Kyle, Nice to see you at TM and I agree. . . Mathias Höfs is the Man. His name isn't as well known to the public-at-large as some of the other top shelf European virtuosi, but he's a trumpeter that "insiders" talk about all of the time. Now stay offline, go practice, and become him yourself! Best, EC |

![]() | 1st time poster ... thanks to everyone for keeping things civil and productive on mr. carroll's and mr. laureano's forums. Here's my island list (in no ranked order): - Borodin String Quartet playing the Borodin string quartets - Soundtrack from "The Mambo Kings" - Rosenkavalier (Dresden, Haitink) - Mahler selected songs (Fischer-Sieskau with Bernstein on piano) - Mahler Symphony No. 2 (NY Phil, Walter) - Count Basie "Chairman of the Board" - Dave Matthew's Band "Under the Table and Dreaming" Sincerely, Mike Blutman |

![]() | Here's a twist, and one that I think all trumpet players can also relate to. You've all listed some awesome recordings. However, the music that most moves my soul is the music that comes from my soul through the bell of my horn. On a deserted island, I'll take my horn if I'm allowed. If not, I'm gonna take some of my own recordings so I can imagine that I'm once again able to make the sounds that connect me to this world, and to my God! Deep inside, isn't this what keeps all us trumpet players connected to our horn . . . the SOUND that comes out and ministers to our soul? Sincerely, Tom Turner |
