![]() ![]() | Re: Hardenberg/Turnage Video yeah... I was doubting a piano reduction will be even possible on some of these (as I find them online and check them out). sure beats me playing the Mozart Oboe concerto, though. ;) |

| Re: Hardenberg/Turnage Video The Maxwell Davies Sonata (not the concerto) is written for trumpet and piano (originally written for Elgar Howarth and John Ogden I believe). Its well worth a go. Its scored for trumpet in D though and I would imagine the transposition would be largely impossible given the extent of the piano cues in the solo trumpet part. |

![]() | Re: Hardenberg/Turnage Video Gordon, The PMD Sonata is Max's opus #1 and was indeed written for his friend Garry Howarth. It's a very good piece but, in the context of this discussion, a bit too commonly played (been around forever). The Concerto (and the Strathclyde Concerto, for that matter) are rare birds due to the size of the forces needed. Cheers, mate EC |

| Re: Hardenberg/Turnage Video I think there may be a piano reduction of the Linkola. At least I have one - of his first Concerto, I think. (I'm at work, the music is at home). Published in Finland, I believe. I'll check tonight and see if I can get you any details on which of these I have piano reds for. |

| Re: Hardenberg/Turnage Video I have in my files piano reductions of: the Zimmermann --- Schott Musik ED 7163. (Schott Music - Classical and Contemporary Music - Sheet Music , Books on Music, CDs, Multimedia, Journals, Antiquarian Books) or Hal Leonard in the Americas. Linkola Concerto #1 ---- Syrene Music (Helsinki) I believe that is his own publishing house. Contact info: Syrene Music Saarnitie 14A 00780 Helsinki Finland Tel: +358-0-357 939 Fax: +358-0-357 349 Concerto #2 is for a smaller orchestra - just strings. He may have done a reduction already, or might be willing to..... His Concerto #3 was premiered in Dec. 2002 - I'm afraid I haven't even heard it yet.... (As an aside, the new music scene in Finland is really thriving and very creative. Finnish Music Information Centre - Suomalaisen musiikin tiedotuskeskus is one of several great websites to check out for info. Primarily in English.....) |

| Piano User | Re: Hardenberg/Turnage Video There is also a piano reduction of the Davies Concerto published by Boosey & Hawkes, but (I feel) a performance of that piece with piano would sound kind of ridiculous. The three pieces that the trumpet plays in the Henze Requiem were compiled in a publication by Schott as Three Sacred Concerto for trumpet and organ or piano. Again I think the piano reduction wouldn't really do the piece justice but I'd think the organ version (done by composer Moritz Eggert) would by really cool. -Matthew Last edited by mahaberio : 02-09-2008 at 07:02 PM. |
