Re: Names to Watch?

Ed referenced it today so I thought, why not revive this thread? I'm sure we all have some more names we can throw out there. Here's a new name to watch out for: Amy Horvey. Amy is a great player and makes a good companion when you're on a bus for a couple hours and then stranded in Vermont. If you're into new music at all, I have a feeling you'll hear a lot from Amy in the years to come. Her website is, you guessed it, Amy Horvey, trumpeter.

Re: Names to Watch?

Heck, almost everyone at CV was a "name to watch". You all inspired me so much to get my lazy butt off the couch and to the shed!

Re: Names to Watch?

Trent,

Sorry amigo...I'm a name to forget. Amy, however, is the real deal and I'm delighted that she'll be doing a DMus with me at McGill.

Off to LA tomorrow to enlighten masses of high schoolers. Oh joy. Oh rapture :)

Be well,
EC

Welcome to the "Who's Ed Carroll" part of your career. I have been "Wilmer Who" for quite a while........next comes "Get me a young E.C or W.W."

Re: Names to Watch?

I'll never forget ya, Ed. I have too much fun making fun of the Cubs to forget you! ;)
bah dump duuuum

I'm already getting the same treatment as some of my "more experienced" counterparts...

I'm no longer a "Young-Lion" and definitely not a "elder statesman" like CT...

I'm just another duuude.

Lukas called me into his office to discuss offering tenure to Phil Ruecktenwald.
I was quite enthused about Phil's playing, and I told Lukas to grant tenure to him.
Lukas got a puzzled look on his face. He said that he really could not place Phil. I reminded Lukas that Phil had played principal trumpet on the previous concert. Foss looked even more puzzled,"You didn't play the last concert, I thought you were back there." Phil was quite blond, didn't wear glasses and was much shorter than me It was one of those moments! I didn't burst out into laughter...........the personnel manager was crying.
Yes, I used to be Wilmer Wise

(in alphabetical order)

Marco Blaauw
Gabriele Cassone
Jouko Harjanne
Mathias Höfs
Mark O'Keefe
Jason Price
Dan Rosenboom
Giuliano Sommerhalder

Are they know to you? If so, do tell.

Best,
EC

I just started taking lessons with Jason Price. When I went to my first lesson I didn't know who he was(didn't know he was an accomplished trumpet palyer). My previous teachers were college students, I'm excited. I think I will learn a lot from him.
