Re: Posthorn solo from Mahler Symphony No.3 (axe choice)

Charlie Schleuter did a demo at Dillon's where he said he played the solo on Flumpet, but on the recording, he used his old Cuesnon because Ozawa insisted on it, as did the engineer. In Carnegie, he went offstage holding the Cuesnon, but once offstage, picked up the Flumpet. From where I was sitting, (Tier) it sounded pretty damn near to heaven.

Did Schlueter ever use this on a recording?

Unrelated, except for Mahler, I also found this today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18nRd3FSufQ

Too much time on my hands this morning? Perhaps I should be doing my taxes. . .

Pax,

EC-

Thank you for that gift! I really needed a good laugh today -

(Yes, you probably SHOULD be doing your taxes, but then, we all SHOULD probably be doing something else!)

(I certainly should be practicing - or at least not burning lunch )

Happy Spring-

SC

Sandy,

What the second clip tells me is that even German mice can afford gold-plated Schlagerl C trumpets. Does this refelect socialism or just the pathetic value of the once-mighty American dollar?

Sounds pretty good too. . . for a rat. (S)He's obviously been listening to Gustav's piano roll.

Best,
EC (druid)
