György Kurtág-Rückblick (trumpet, double bass, two pianos)
Unsuk Chin-Fantaisie Mécanique (trombone, trumpet, piano, two percussionists)

Both are phenomenal and by renowned composers. Definitely worth a look. The Kurtág is published by Sikorski and the Unsuk Chin is published by Boosey & Hawkeds. Both are only available as rentals. A recording of Fantaisie Mécanique is readily available through amazon.com and you can hear several movements of Rückblick on Marco Blaauw's site (www.marcoblaauw.com).

Chamber music is one of our most intimate forms of musical communication, both with the audience and with the other performers, and one that is not given its proper dues. Everyone wants to be a soloist or an orchestral player... Let's keep this list going!

Speaking of which, check out Jo Kondo's "Durante L'inverno" for trumpet, violin, and piano. It's also a wonderful piece.

Au Soir - 4 parts but, according the the liner notes, these are best played by 8 players (2 per part) - it is the only way to cope with a couple of split-parts moments.
Very nice piece - atmospheric and not technically a challenge (my ensemble have played it a couple of times, the average age is only about 16).

I don't have this book... If you get the chance to find yours, that would be great.

I'll see if I can get his contact info off the web. Thanks!

Thanks, Wilmer...

I've never done the Webern or the Berg. Are these works that need a conductor? Same question for the Messiaen...

Cheers,

Thanks, Sandy...

Do you happen to know who published the Ardevol? Also, I think the Casella Serenata may be a rental... Do you happen to know for sure? Just curious.
