Don't panic about understanding the instrument - it is in you, as you seem to have discovered - some of the rest of us aren't so lucky and have to struggle daily - sometimes with the trumpet, sometimes just with life. You are in good company here and are very welcome. (Just be careful - some of us are a bit strange at times - sometimes it's just a screw loose, sometimes it's mouthpiece.)
