mlynch will become famous soon enough
Hi from South Florida

I started viewing Trumpetmaster about a month ago. Like many of you, I am a comeback player. After playing through grade school middle, middle school and high school, I packed the trumpet away for 20 years.

I am the father of six kids, all of whom we're getting involved in music. When my daughter started taking trumpet lessons, I figured that it was time to dust off my old horn too. Plus, when I found out that we were expecting our seventh kid, I figured that I need a new hobby anyhow.

I bought a Kanstul signature series horn on e-bay several months back, and I recently traded up to a Flip Oakes Wild Thing (got it yesterday). After 20 years in my folks crawl space, my Bach "frankenstrad" (standard Bach with a 43 bell replacement) is in Anaheim being restored by Zig Kanstul. Also, I recently purchased a step-up horn for my daughter from a post on this site (got her a Besson MEHA).

I've enjoyed reading the posts and learning from them. I wish resources like this were available when I was a student. With the help of this fine site and its related links, I'll soon be back to playing better than ever.

Best regards to the TM community,
Mike

Re: Hi from South Florida

Richard,

Thanks to you and to all for the warm welcomes to the forum. I'm trying to ease my daughter in to the Arban's book. There are plenty of straight-forward duets in there for us to play with. Also, it's the book that I'm using to get re-acquainted with horn playing after my 20 year vacation. I recently ordered some Clyde Hunt Arbans recordings for us to refer to. It's always nice to have a reference point for characteristic studies, etc.

Looks like you've got some nice horns in your collection too.

Best regards,
Mike
