I got my Advanced Class license 20 years ago but I could never afford to buy a "rig".
I passed the written for my Extra Class license, but couldn't get my Morse code speed up enough to pass that part of the Extra Class requirements.

Re: Howdy!

Yes I'm a ham but not active for quite a while. Technician plus. Was on the air for like ten years but then the cycle went down. Now it's the Internet. Not sure what the state of that hobby is.

Ahhh! Bob, you 'sound' like my sort of trumpet player - it gets better, trust me - but you sure have some regular work ahead. Don't be put off by slow progress, it WILL come, but there are no silver bullets - the only path is by hard work. It is said that it takes five years to make a half competent musician, but only two to produce a fighter pilot. I'm in aircraft, and I play trumpet - the quote is essentially true - have faith in self. As Bart Simpson would say "Have a cow, man."

Re: Howdy!

You ham radio operators need this book, "Arthur Collins, Radio Wizard."
It can be ordered off the web. Arthur Collins Radio Wizard, a book by Ben W. Stearns
