Sure. In a nutshell, I spent 2001 to 2005 in Belgium and the Netherlands. I lived in Ghent, Belgie and held an "Artist in Residence" position for three years at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven under the tutelage of Mnr. Leon Petre. I return twice a year to do recitals and master classes. I should be there in October 2006, if all goes as planned.

Again, Welkom!

ok, maybe I missed something... my nordic languages are.... how you say.... non existent? (what language is it? this is a little embarassing for somebody is supposed to have book-smarts ) I figured out the "trompet" part, but what does "vrouw" mean? Please excuse my complete ignorance, I've got to get going on my language skills...

Hey Jimi - It is Dutch and Dutch is a Germanic language. "Vrouw" is a term for woman or wife. So I am a trumpet woman (and on most days feel like I am a trumpet's wife as well.....I am practically married to the darn thing. LOL) The language I learned was Flemish (Vlaamse), but aside from very subtle differences, they are the same.

Welcome Christine.

I have a trombonist friend from Chicago who was married to a woman from Amsterdam for 18 years. He's back in the US in Chicago now. Recently he was on a bus in Chicago and heard some people speaking Dutch so he struck up a converation. When they asked him how he knew the language, he said that all the brothers do (he is African American)it's a common thing in the community, so he told them if they wanted to find people in the US who speak Dutch they should just find an African American who would be able to help them.

He was a bit of a trickster.
