![]() | neew guy on the block Just found this site and was fascinated by it. Played trumpet through high school and some in college (many, many years ago). My last horn in high school was a Couesnon which I loved. Have been a member of a Texas state law enforcement agency for 22 years and a member of the department honor guard. Bought a King 600 to play taps for the guard. This week I took a chance on e-bay and bought another Couesnon. The sound and range took me back 40 years. Will probably be selling my King or maybe just donate it to the local high school band to a student that wants to learn to play but can't afford the horn. Happly to be a member. |

![]() | greetings Just found this site and was fascinated. Played trumpet in high school many, many years ago. Am currently a member of a Texas state law enforcement honor guard as the player of taps. Had a used King 600 for the past few years and thought I could do better. Took a chance and bought a Couesnon via e-bay since that is what I had played some 40 years ago. Loved the "new" horn and am pleased with the range and sound as opposed to the King. I know there may be other horns out there that are considered "better" but sound and ability is as is beauty. It is in the eye of the beholder. Glad to be on board. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: neew guy on the block Welcome to TM, wschwart! I find it extremely cool that you play taps--music is meant to move people and to comfort them. In the end, I'll hope that music does more than laws to direct people. In the meantime, in case I'm caught speeding in Texas--is there any secret thing I can say that will turn a ticket into a warning other than "You're right officer, I was speeding?"

Hey VB, why don't you try "Violas are not acceptable" and see how you go?
