Re: "Chicago" Had a read through last week with just the band, it went ok. I had to do some picking and chosing since there is not a second trumpet player. Thanks for the harmon comment though, it wasnt written in the part to use the stem the whole time. Its going to be a cool show.

Re: "Chicago" No 2nd trumpet? Ouch! That's gonna be quite a blow. The 2nd trumpet really adds a lot in the show, and it's always nice to have someone to trade parts & provide a bit of relief. As I'm sure you've noticed, the few short 2nd trumpet solos are very important and need to be played. There should be enough time for the quick mute changes. Enjoy the run and really - do try to keep your eyes on the music & conductor, not the nice lookin' gals on stage, OK?

Re: "Chicago" Yes, it is quite a blow playing both the 1st book and about 40% of the 2nd part. Im starting to think I enjoy punishment On a related note, I'll try to keep my eyes on the music..............for at least the first couple shows TD

Re: "Chicago" Well, the run is over and it turned out to be one of the better shows I have played in. All involved did a wonderful job and it was fun to show up and play for them. Cant complain about the wardrobe either I have to tip my hat to the guys in the pits who do it full time. A tough gig!! TD
