Conan O'Brien show - tonight If any of you are night owls (or insomniacs), I played with a fun big band which backed up John Pizzarelli on the Conan O'Brien show. It was recorded this afternoon, and will air tonight (1/5). They usually never show the band, but it may be worth checking out. It was a great swinging chart (by John Clayton) on, "Yes Sir, That's My Baby". The trumpets were: myself, Bud Burridge, Mark Pender (from Conan's house band), and Jim O'Connor. It should come up in the last 10 -15 minutes of the show. Tony

Re: Conan O'Brien show - tonight Tony, I certainly enjoyed the band on the show tonight. I thought everyone sounded great. It looked like Pender enjoyed standing beside you based on his response to your playing when you had finished. I liked that gliss up and down you played just before the last chord. I too would be interested in how a pick-up band like this works. Thanks for letting us know about the performance!

Re: Conan O'Brien show - tonight Tony- I saw the broadcast. Band sounded great-the groove was right on the money!! Aside from the trumpet section, which you listed earlier, who else was in the band? John Mosca on lead bone? Bucky Pizzarelli on rhythm guitar? Nice job- Garry

Re: Conan O'Brien show - tonight Thanks. I haven't seen it yet, but it was fun while we played. The rest of the band was: Saxes: Andy Fusco, Chris Byars, Gary Keller, Jerry Vivino (Conan's band), Kenny Berger Trbs.: John Mosca, Bruce Bonvissuto, La Bamba (Conan's band), Alan Raph. The rhythm section was Pizzarelli's quartet: Larry Fuller (piano), Tony Tedesco (drums), his brother Martin on bass (plus father Bucky on guitar). I think that any time we see live music on TV it's a good thing for all of us!
