| Nothing on: http://maynardferguson.com/ Hopefully this is not true. The boss is not young; however selfishly I'd like to have him around for awhile longer. |

| I just spoke with a local high school band director, who is a good friend of Ed Sargent (Maynard's tour manager) and it's confirmed. An official announcement is forthcoming. It is indeed a sad day for we have lost a legend. The Boss is the reason I play the trumpet. He will be sorely missed. |

| Forte User | As the years have passed, I always thought it a bit amusing at how many people were so upset at the untimely death of John Lennon. I'm no longer amused and I understand it now. When I heard this news today, it was like I got punched in the gut and I'm am far more upset by this than I thought I would be - at Maynards age I knew it was an inevitability within the next few years at the latest. There seems to be too many reputable sources reporting this sad news to believe that it is somehow untrue or a hoax. My prayers go out to the man and the family of the man who more than anyone else is responsible for the lifetime of music I have pursued. Maynard, for me, made the trumpet more exciting than anyone else I have ever heard, and I'm saddened to know that his exciting stratospheric playing has been silenced forever. Rest in Peace Maynard - you will be missed tremendously. Update: It would seem that the news is more or less official now. http://www.maynardferguson.com/ Last edited by trickg : 08-24-2006 at 12:39 PM. |

| Gone but not forgotten! Give em hell boss; I'm sure Louie, Dizzy, Miles and you are lighting it up. I can't wait to see that man! Your work is done; you've inspired many; my prayers are with you! R.I.P. |
