Is this not the purpose of the ignore button? Instead of wasting time by reading a post and then deciding to ignore said post based on your above algorithm one can simply filter out the repeat offenders and truly have an enjoyable and healthy experience on this site.

Think of it this way... I obviously will never yield to the likes of a troll, so by using the ignore button for me to filter out posts by those i deem a waste of my time takes away that "Bullhorn" you speak of by my not knowing the troll is even in a thread i'm perusing. If i don't know he's there, then i can't yell back at him... can i? I find your logic flawed, the ignore feature is the best solution to all the problems. It allows people to converse uninterrupted and prevents the same people from aggressing towards the distraction. Everyone wins.

It's apparent you think that anyone that has a problem with a disruptive young individual and takes their anger out on them must be the devil re-incarnate. If you truly think someone like me is that detrimental to a troll then why would you not endorse the voluntary option for me to ignore them with a simple click of a button?

This Thread is just so negative, and not really expected of from Trumpet Players (have a look at other Forums eg TrumpetHerald.com and see the Team spirit and Positive Threads)
Hitman, please ignore the few, as the rest are all in this discussion forum to share ideas, however "Troll" it may be to the few !

Please consider the thread was initiated by a moderator, Schwab. In the past he has proven himself to be entitled to that position, by showing restraint in curtailing threads as well as tact in requesting that certain posters (yours truly) exercise better judgement by refraining from baiting others whose posts were causing consternation due to their tendency to be incomprehensible or just plain nonsensical.

The thread is valid because it actually illustrates the usefulness of the IGNORE feature, which when applied reduces the opportunity for one to become irritated by posters who treat this forum casually, or comtemptfully, effectively thumbing their noses at those of us who find it valuable and take it seriously.

I have no objection to humor - it belongs here too. But for some, it's just a question of typing in something with the object being the eliciting of a response and with no useful content sought or contributed.

Requests to end the thread are out-of-line. Go to another section of the forum if you don't like what you read here.

Nobody would ever read it.

I might be on everybodys "Ignore list".

I think I will use this afternoon to give my student a lesson.

And afterwords go to the rehearsal in my Brass Band and play some music.
