![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Something wrong with this forum? Just a reminder - none of us pay for this forum. Revenue is generated by advertising. A fair amount of commerce passes through these pages, but TM doesn't take anything off the top, no cut, no percentage, nothing but the ads. We take for granted the technology which makes all of this and the rest of the 'net possible. A mere 15 years ago, when I first went online, it was practically non-existent. It is now ubiquitous, gargantuan, and a way of life for everyone. But it has not become simpler. Rather it has grown in complexity to the point that IT folks who work with it have to learn something new every day. The minute we gain full understanding of anything it becomes obsolete. I know this to be true from personal experience. In this environment it is certain that things will break. The person(s) maintaining the infrastructure of TM has a big job. I don't know how much they are paid, out of that ad revenue I mentioned, but sometimes there just isn't enough compensation for the amount of work needed. Solving technical problems is not facilitated by criticism from anybody. The tech staff is just as eager to fix it as you are to have it working.

| Piano User | Re: Something wrong with this forum? I'll try to get one next time it happens. I think it's a resource issue on the site's servers...seems to happen more during the day than at night. I hear you guys about it being free. I wasn't complaining....I was just trying to make the point that what may appear to some as a sporadic thing, and therefore not a big deal, was not happening sporadically to me, and might be indicating a more serious problems that the moderator/webmaster needs to know about, hey I'm an ex-sysadmin and I do software QA so it's my nature to take these things seriously = bigtiny |
