Hi Leigh,
Because you "might" make a couple different models:
1) Bell assembly on the left side of the valve cluster.
2) Copper bell.
3) Trumpet valve body for "familiar blow", better intonation, and improved water/spit draining.
4) Slightly smaller bore that won't deflate the lungs of amateurs like me.
