Jarrett is an unknown quantity at this point
It all comes down to the your ideal sound concept. Kevin's ideal sound concept is almost the polar opposite of mine. He's looking for dark, smokey, Chet Baker meets Tom Harrel type sound. I'm looking for the George Graham meets Doc meets Bobby Shew bright commercial sound. I think it's pretty apparent in our playing as well. I'd also rather hear a good solo any day of the week than a double c, however, if you can play a double c in tune and with a centered *not peircing* tone, then there's something to be said for that as well.
So far, I'm not there yet. My recently acquired "practice" range extends up to d above, but I'd be loath to use it in any performance setting because it sounds shitty. Therefore I'd call my "gig" range or "real" range about a g above high c with a good sound. Maybe an A if I get a wild hair... Anyway, enough of that, I need some practice I think.
