    Lou, don't think I had a mixup of CD's That was the Airmen of Note Big Band whose tracks in that particular style I got off the Air Force Band website, but will check for sure. Glad you got the Wurlitzer. I played the American Standard at band practice yesterday and it fit in well on some numbers we are working on for the Christmas concert. If you and Karen are interested in coming down, I probably will have enough from our allotment. Deb and I were up in GR yesterday, meeting her mom and our daughter , Emily up at the new Penzey's Spices location on Alpine, the over to Tuscan Express restaurant on 28th. Excellent food. Then we made stops at Russo's and the Goodwill store on 29th.
    Glad you like the Conn, it sure must be great. Finally got the Ambassador sold again to a guy in Alabama. I played the Besson at swing band and concert band last and it is playing really well now. I stretched the 1st valve spring again and that must have got the alignment back.

    I followed up on your lead for the Wurlitzer cornet that you found on Craigs list and I will pick it up tomorrow. Thanks.

    The cd that you sent o me is beautiful jazz and swing but the jacket and your scribe on the back side say Airman of note. Did you mix up a couple of your cds?

    I am falling more in love with my recently acquired Conn 2B New World Symphony trumpet ongoingly. I have played some very fine trumpets, but this one is my first choice.

    Don't know for sure, Lou. I suspect it was a compilation from a number of programs. It was off a separate CD from the set Gems of the Concert Band, put out in 83 on vynil. I have 5 of the LP's I got from the local St Luke's thrift shop years ago. For instance, vol.7 program has William E Lane, trombone, playing Atlantic Zephryrs;
    (back cover photo of rear of the band I think I spot Byron Autry's distinctive profile)
    Vol.5 has Columbian Fantasy played by James B Underwood, cornetist; vol. 1 has Concert Etude,op 49 by Goedicke played by Leonard Smith; 1979 for this one. Notes say the master tapes were recorded in the Masonic Temple in Detroit, with mikes placed to re-create the original performance sound as well as possible. Vol 8 has Leonard Smith playing "My Heaven of LOve" by Goldman. I'll scan the personnel list. Byron was listed in the cornet section. Vol 6 has Earle Louder, Euph playing "Beautiful Colorado. The CD set in the library featured different types of music on each disc. How about "the olds" cornet on SGW? and the partially hammered bell of the new Mello-tone listing.

    YOu are asking Me? I saw that one on goodwill also. Brass Review has one review. Says average price for new one is $1350. bore .459, 5 inch bell.Intermediate model,nickel plated
    Reviewer said the Pros:excellent professional trumpet; great sound. "this trumpet is the same as the T401, has a big sound and it is easy to play ( Buck Clayton plays with) This is a great professional trumpet"
    Another opinion is on a TH thread on 11/2707 by nagog. The Holton T401 was first called the Galaxy in the early 60's and then became the T401 later. The bell is solid nickle silver, not plated and although it was marketed as an intermediate norn, professionals played it too. I use to have cornet and it played very nice.

    Here is a good post to save. Looks like a horn to go after if it is in good shape.
