What I find with my rounded tuning slide: It does open up the horn, makes the slots more "slippery" and lets you put more air through. Is that good?
It all depends on what you want to feel. Personally I like the regular tuning slide for lead playing, as it slots better above high C.
But, there are other things that contribute to slotting (gap, backbore, etc).
Sorry to be so vague, but there is no cut and dried answer.
