No BS,
Lets not pigeon hole ideas here. Just because I think Dean is a dufus doesn't mean I think Bush and all the Republicans are perfect. My first choice in 2000 and 1996 was Alan Keyes, not G.W. But, I am a realist. I must vote for the candidate that has a good chance to win that most closely supports my conservative views. No democrat even comes close. Every Dem. candidate I've ever seen thinks the govt. can run my life better than I can.
My brand of conservatism is fairly well summed up by CATO institute:

Until people realize the tremendous cost of asking the govt. to solve their problems things will not improve because the federal govt. has no reason to do things in a cost effective, timely manner. Case in point, it wasn't until UPS and FedEx came on the scene that the US Postal service started tightening up its belt.
If you have ever worked in the civilian side of our defense industry you would know that we have the best military equipment in the world because of intense competition among private companies to win DOD contracts. Fair competition is what makes the country strong, not more wasteful, social programs.
