| Sorry to let you down Mike but I am afraid to say that I don't have a clue what the answer is. I could take a wild guess and say that at some time Maurice may have played a Bach ML37 with a 3C - but I really can't remember.
I guess that's quite revealing in itself. Either I just wasn't interested in gear in those days - which I am very much today - or it just goes to show that I'm getting old and my memory is going (we are talking about 20 years ago mind).
I can remember what I was playing at the time however. A 1955 Burbank Benge which belonged to Bernard Brown and the same Giardinelli 6M that I use today.
That Star Wars session is now the stuff of legend incidentaly. Believe it or not Maurice joined the LSO in 1977 and his first day at work was the first session for the sound track of Star Wars. Next time you see the movie or listen to the music and the Main Tittle Music comes on just imagine that the opening top C of the fanfare is the very first note Maurice played as principal in the LSO - awesome.
John Williams fell in love with Maurice's playing and the orchestra owe him a huge thanks for all that fabulous film work they did throughout the 80s and 90s through to the present day.
Thanks for responding to my post. Noel. |
