I have to say that, in all seriousness, this looks like a pretty good buy to me!
The horn sold for $1,136 and I would think that for around $500 you could have a completely overhauled, pristine instrument.
I have seen Leigh from Eclipse trumpets breath new life into much sadder cases than this one. For a start all the parts seem to be present and correct. t Very importantly, the bell appears to be in pretty good shape so there is a reasonable chance that it will still sound good. Valves and slides can always be re-built and made leak-free and its amazing how much of the 'damage' on horns like this is purely cosmetic.
If any of you out there have a real desire to own a vintage instrument then don't be put off by first impressions - looks can be very deceptive.
Of course there is no guarantee that a horn like this will play like a dream - but it can be made into a thing of beauty once more and definitely deserves a good home rather than a trip to the glue factory.

All the best. Noel.
