| You want marketing, well, every twenty-years, whether they need it or not, Schilke comes out with a brand new black and white catalog with there standard models. (Oh wait, every Schilke is "custom" so they couldn't possibly have "models).
Their dealers make a "margin", so that's a marketing cost (avoid by Wild Thing, V-Raptor, Carvin Guitars, etc. by selling only factory direct.) There's even a guy lurking around here that bills himself as a marketing director.
Oh wait, they did put a lovely picture of a gold plated Eb horn in the ITG Journal. (That one actually made my mouth watered and almost qualified Schilke as a 21st Century marketer. There is hope.)
Anyway, there are "marketing costs" at Schilke. The horns don't quite sell themselves. You've got to at least get them in front a few potential customers, which they do fairly effectively, considering their production volumes.
BTW, I'm just trying to have a discussion here. As I've said several times, Schilkes are among my favorite horns. These marque-specific forums have their downside in that it's too easy to be perceived as a basher or anti-marque if you question the brand's "factoids". Oh well, that's part of what makes life interesting.
