Just a bit of history - I started the Sat nite TH chat session on AIM last year, jotting down THer's AOL or AIM screen names, then opening up a chatroom about 10pm on Saturdays, then inviting anyone who was active in AIM to join the chat.

Pretty quickly this became a challenge because (1) it required me to maintain the buddy list and (2) it required me to open up the room about the same time every week. When I went on vacation, I enlisted Chris (Blasticore) to take it over, and he happily obliged. Having the energy and a monster buddy list, Chris kept the chat a happening thing the rest of the time, and he still runs it.

The problem, however, is finding the room on any given Saturday nite. I tried to give it a consistent name, "TH Chat" so that people could log on and join the room without my having to notice they had logged on and sending them an invitation. Unfortunately, when Chris took over, he started (and still does) naming the room with seemingly random stuff. Like THchat09387538712598798753489! Try searching for that?

Typically, when I have joined the Sat nite chats, I hop on the PC, see Chris is logged on and send him an IM requesting an invitation. He may or may not see that, so I might message someone else in my buddy list who may be on, and they get me in invitation.

Point is, I can't just hop on, connect to a chat server, join a room, and PRESTO, start chatting away. Once I get in, all is cool, but I seem to only make it to the chats about 1 in 3 or 4 weeks.

Now, along comes TM, with its 24-hour, no invitation necessary chat. Great. Perfect. Love it! Use it regularly. TM himself was hoping to get a regular chat thing going, so I said "let's try to hijack the TH chat!" I didn't really think of this as a TH vs TM kinda thing (cause that really is pretty childish), but just trying to offer the chatters an easier alternative.

Most the the TH gang were not familiar with the TM chat button, and really resisted moving from AIM to this venue. Oh well. So I still try to hop on to the TH chat, if I can, but I also pop up a TM chat window and just sit and wait. I sympathize with Toots getting frustrated missing a chatter. Funny how some people hop on, then hop off. Guess they are looking for someone else. No big deal here.

So, if you want to start a new chat session, Lazor, bring it on. I am not MSN, but I can do AIM. I really prefer using the TM chat, however, since that allows me to come and go as I please. The key thing is that those participating have to really agree to a common start time. Changing from weekend nights to weekday nights is OK by me too, but if it is too early, then I will likely miss it. Don't let me stop you folks from getting the chat going.

I have really enjoyed chatting with everyone I have had the good fortune to meet at both locations. I think it is so wonderful for us to hook up in slightly more personal way than just posting PMs and on the Forums.

BTW - I assume the rest of you can see a snippet from te history of TM chat like I can, so if someone gets on and has to run off for a minute, they can leave a BRB message, right?
