| A new operating plan includes a slimmed-down symphony budget with a shorter 26-week season and lower pay and benefits for musicians. It also features a new management team and increased emphasis on marketing, sales and corporate sponsorships.
Well, it is better than no symphony at all. A short season and less pay I guess go hand in hand. It still makes me shake my head to know that musicians that practice up to 8 hours a day, have graduated from a conservatory, or Eastman, or The Julliard and are one of the very best in the world at what they do and barely make a living wage while rappers make millions selling death, sex, and foul language.
But my wife is a pastor. People do things for low wages for reasons way beyond money -- thankfully.
