| Thev, Boundary Waters is that area immediately north of the western tip of Lake Superior... mega forest/rock/lakes/streams. Incredible canoeing, fishing and camping. Not much "up and down" but lots of swamp and marshy land ("cross country" isn't the easiest). The Canadian side of the "line" features Quetico Provincial Park. Some of the lakes are big enough for powerboating... but it can be rather tough to get the truck and boat trailer in to them!
Good place to go listen to the loons AND the silence. Pull your backpacks up into a "bear cache" at night though... or you'll be going hungry before you get home. Good map, compass and GPS is real handy as well (trees and rocks tend to start looking "all the same").
I'm envious.... been camping in that general area once 'way back when. Daum... enjoy yourself....it's a great place to "take out your brain and give it a good laundering".
But man oh man... what a contrast with Jamaica! |
