More expensive piccolos are not harder to play.
Piccolo trumpets are hard to make that play well.
It takes more labor to make a good playing Piccolo
Labor cost more money
Therefore, Piccolos cost more money.
All those statements are true.
But cost and quality only correlate to a certain extent and not in a absolute fashion. Hence a true bargain is to get a high quality product for less money than expected.
