![]() | Re: adult jazz clinic You may have come up with an interesting Elder Hostle tour. I know what you mean by adult as in no high school kids. But I have to say, most of the trumpet guild masterclasses are older people like us attending and college students. I am going to suggest you contact your local community college. Suggest they start a night class for jazz study aimed at adults. Allan Vizzutti taught at Bellevue Community college when I lived there. No telling who might be the teacher. Can you stand to take piano lessons for a year or two? Forgive me, please, for responding before Ms. Jensen. Protocol requires us to wait for the thread owner to answer first. |

| Re: adult jazz clinic No worries- jump in! A good camp ( that I happen to teach at) is the Port Townsend Jazz workshop. There are players of all ages (14 to 74) who I see having a great time, summer after summer. Centrum: Washington's home for the arts and creative education |

![]() | Re: adult jazz clinic Port Townsend, Washington. One of my favorite places. I lived in Everett and would take the ferry to Port Townsend to escape the city. Home of wooden boats and the late Burl Ives. I will second all motions to attend the jazz clinic and the Port Townsend Jazz Festival. Enjoy!! Jim |

| Re: adult jazz clinic There you have it folks- Burl Ives! Need we sell any more? HA. My Mom actually played Burl Ives records a lot when we were kids, a very comforting character. Speaking of characters- US airways mag had a wonderful interview with the late Kurt Vonnegut in it (and we all know what a crap shoot it is to find good reading on the plane!) Q:" A lack of seriousness", you wrote, "has led to all sorts of wonderful insights." KV: "Yes. The world is too serious. To get mad at a work of art-because maybe someone somewhere is blowing his stack over what I've done-is like getting mad at a hot fudge sundae!" Just a reminder, I guess, for us to all have fun, and eat good ice cream too... Not sure how this relates to any particular thred, just dug the interview. He also says that he is (was) suing the cigarette companies because their product hadn't killed him yet. ouch |
