Re: Favorite Front LIne

Hi Ingrid;
If you do not have it, go out and get Cannonball A. Quintet w/ Nancy Wilson.(the nice price) About 50/50 Vocal-Instrumental tracks. You will love it! One of the first records i heard when i was starting to play jazz back in HS. "Never Say Yes" is great with Nat..it is also in one of the Sher New Real Books. BTW,your front line with Mr. Garzone on Vernal Fields gets a mention here too!
Regards,
Paul

Re: Favorite Front LIne

How about Freddie and Dexter Gordon? Evidence can be found on Dex's I Was Doing Alright and Herbie Hancock's Taking Off. I especially love their playing on "The Maze" -- Freddie plays a killer solo but Dex hits it out of the park! How can you not turn up the intensity with Herbie laying down such sweet stuff underneath??

I love this music...
