For just the right moment to do just the right thing. That involves a lot of waiting and little playing. But when he plays, look out! Wayne is the most brilliant musician in jazz still alive. Maybe with Sonny Rollins.

Hey Chicago Mike! Good point...Wayne really is the greatest...when it comes to "listening and going to school" on his fellow musician colleagues but until that time that he finally get an idea going....I WOULD BET A BUCKET OF BACHS that it must have fustrated the heck out of folks like Miles and other equally great players while he was 'gettin-his jazz-vibe-mooojo-goin' :)
Whats new with you as far as trumpets...what brand of axe are you playin since movin away from the Vax Axe so long ago?

Still have the Yamaha Mike Vax, love that horn. I don't change equipment around very much.

Re: Miles 1969

I think Miles Davis was searching for a 1/4 tone trumpet. When I heard Malouf play his 1/4 tone I thought for sure I was hearing Miles reincarnated.
