Kudos to John Swana. He is very hip. Umm... how about Ingrid herself?

Ingrid, do you remember me? From Bowling Green State University after you won the Caruso Competition?

Re: Most Lyrical Jazzer

Melodic improvisation has to become stronger as the rhythm/harmony loosens... I would say Lester Bowie and Don Cherry are amongst the strongest singers on their horns.

Re: Most Lyrical Jazzer

OMG! Clyde McCoy! My band teacher in junior high played that for me in grade 8 and I just freaked out. It's so raunchy and sassy and YES, melodic.
Thanks for the post.
Hi Hubnub...sorry, I don't really remember much from the Caruso competition experience...it was such a blur...a good blur, but a blur nonetheless.
Say hi again when our paths cross next.
Peace,
IJ
