Question

Does any one know the name of that Jazz Concept book for trumpet players Ingred said that it played a staple in her playing and someone from New England Conservatory wrote. Any answers will be great, thank you.

Re: Question

John McNeil teaches trumpet at NEC. George Russell also taught (teaches?) at NEC, his book on Lydian Chromatic Concept is still influential.

Re: Question

The book I've heard her mention numerous times is Hal Galper's "Forward Motion"...not sure if that's what you're talking about, but it's a great book to have on the stand.

Re: Question

Hey all,
just running to the beach for a quick swim before departing from lovely Rio.
yes, my life is rough ....will post some pictures of me hanggliding asap!!

The book-
The Art of Jazz Trumpet by John McNeil. (both volumes)
Actually I recommend ALL of his books...he is both smart AND funny and a great player that really knows how to inspire all around him.

Will finish my IJ practice prescription on the plane...
Best,
Ingrid

Re: Question

The music and the people were and are spectacular!
I love Brazil. Except for the shocking gap between the rich and poor. It really started to get to me towards the end of our visit. Especially when Jon and I asked for a good 'LOCAL' place to eat at and the hotel sent us to a tacky "OVERPRICED" tourist joint. grrr Eventually we found what we wanted.
Will keep you on my roadie list!
