Re: The Run

The basis of all trumpet PLAYING is patterns that are committed to memory. Tunes, scales and intervals. The basis of all MUSIC MAKING is the creative, inspired use of what you have learned.

The former is aquired by shedding, the latter too, including wearing out the CD player, spending your last cent to go to live concerts - continually looking for new inspiration.

There is a strong tendency to look for a specialist for whatever ails us. The medical world has gotten so expensive that people are really motivated to live healthier. Music is the same, you need a good teacher to keep you on track, but MOTIVATION is what gives you the new skills.

Look for soloists that play extended lines, transcribe them and build what you have learned into your own creative moments!
