Not all, but several. Konitz was one of my teachers. And he was a Tristano student too. BTW, sports analogies to trumpet playing or music in general I find unhelpful. You don't have to warm up your ears, once they are trained they're always there, on call, ready to go from 0 to 100 on a moment's notice. A 100m run is over in ten seconds, when you play you have to play all night sometimes

I would recommend transcribing solos yourself rather than buying a book with transcriptions. Also, I would second the idea of trancribing in real time rather than half speed. CDs make it so much easier to do this than with cassettes or LPs. They don't wear out.
