![]() | Re: Contest Entries Here's what I wrote for my entry: My dream trumpet would have clear, dark, rich, beautiful tone with clean attack and good flexibility. I love a trumpet with a broad, majestic tone. The trumpet of my dreams would be able to emerge from a large band ensemble and sound just as good in a small brass quintet or as a soloist. I would design this dream trumpet to possess these great qualities. First of all, this would be a brass Bb trumpet. I would have a Bach #25 mouthpipe and a .459 ML bore. I would have a gold heavy 37 Bach bell to further darken the tone. I would use Monel valve pistons, heavy bottom valve caps, and Amado water keys on both the first and third valve slides. I would have this trumpet gold plated over the brass to achieve the dark tone that I want. As a nice accent, I would have gold plated black and white Sardonyx finger buttons. I would have full Conn Vintage One rings on the third and first slides and a standard hook for the pinky ring on the leadpipe. I feel this design for my dream trumpet would make a beautiful instrument with a rich, dark tone that is inspiring to both play and hear. |
