Sound pretty similar to what I do.

I totally agree with you on the issue of horns. I don't get to play my "smaller" horns that much. Actually, since I've been on vacation from my regular gig (Maritime Jazz Orchestras) I havn't been playing my flugel that much. I used it on a couple of recent gigs and I felt like I was back in high school trying to hack my way through it! Ok, you talked me into practicing with it. (I go back to the lead chair on Monday the 21st!)

I like mouthpieces!

I'm currently using some old Monette's (I like the one's with more mass on the shank). I don't think changing the design helped them any - didn't make the worse though. My favorite all around mouthpiece is the B4, but I use a B2 some days. Depending on the type of big band music I'm playing I'll use the B4L or B5L. Just depends on how I think I want to sound that day...

If I ever make it back up to MN, could I look you up for a lesson?
