Re: any posts?

Just a quick note to let you know that everything is gong extremely well!

I've put a quick vid of the M. Haydn up on youtube but can't check the url on my PDA.

Perhaps someone can post it or I can borrow a laptop and I can post it later.

Re: any posts?

Thanks for posting the video MJ. I appreciate it. I am actually on a computer know so I can type a bit more in-depth about the session.

These past two weeks have been extremely rewarding for me for many reasons:

1. I'm learning how good your chops feel when you do daily warmups and routines. I've let this slide in the past few years but seeing all these talented musicians around me (and especially seeing their discipline) really has inspired me to get off my tail.

2. I really have enjoyed playing everything handed out in the past few weeks. Be it playing in front of Gabriele Cassone's masterclass (if you don't know Cassone's playing you are really missing out on quite possibly the finest trumpet player in the world), playing Terry Riley's In C, improvising on stage with Markus Stockhausen, or playing flugel on Thomas Stevens' new arrangement of Carnival of Venice the music has been tremendously rewarding.

3. It's always great to be reminded on where you stand as a musician. I'm not saying this only on a "level" status but as an all-around review of yourself as an artist. These students around me have FAR more discipline, drive, and intensity than I do. I've enjoyed playing in front of Gould and Burns. These guys are honest musicians who really speak their minds.

4. Hearing nightly masterclasses by the faculty have also shown me a lot of new avenues as a college instructor.

In short this has been the best money I've spent in a long time. Ed has really put something out here that can inspire, motivate, and make each student out there think about their role as a performing artist. Now I need to get home and GET off my Butt to promote my career and tackle some "real music".

Looking forward to chatting online again with you all soon (even though my presence will be smaller as I'm going to be shedding a lot more).

Cheers,

T
