Joe Zawinul knows trumpet. I met Joe when he was playing with Cannonball, I was just hanging out. We talked about Wobisch and Levora, the players in the Vienna Philharmonic when Joe was growing up there."I Sing The Body Electric" was a landmark album. I played Joe's voice. I worked hard to get every inflection of his voice as he sang the music to me. I played D trumpet on a couple ensemble licks. Andrew White was the only one of the added studio guys that ad libbed.

The Stanley Clarke date is the only time I heard Faddis play piccolo trumpet. Jon absolutely nailed a D above high C. Tom Malone and Dave Taylor played in a superhuman way.
We started the dates after midnight at Electric Ladyland studios. Ah, the seventies
