Charles, I could not agree more. I had recently bought a Scodwell Bb from Tony. As we know, he gets his parts from your Father. Tony assembles the horns, anneals the bells, and tests them out completely. If there is something wrong with the horn, he does not release it until it plays to his satisfaction. What makes Tony's assembly job easier is the fact that the Kanstul parts are made to very close tolerances and they are very consistent.
I also bought a Scodwell flugelhorn from Tony. Now these horns are assembled in the Kanstul shop, using Kanstul parts, made to Tony's specifications. The completed flugles are sent to Tony. He play tests them all, and does some tweaking if necessary. This is an incredible flugelhorn, the best I have ever owned. It does not have a lot of the quirks that other flugels have. Sure, I paid a lot more for this horn than other flugels cost, but that higher price is the result of a lot of hands-on extra work by both Kanstul and Scodwell.
And Tony is not shy about telling people where his parts come from. That he uses Kanstul parts should say alot about the quality
Thanks, Tony and Zig!
Mike
